It’s the thought that counts
” I AM THE CHANGE” was officially launched yesterday!
Film makers, NGOs, reporters, could be spotted all over. By film makers we do not mean a block buster director, or some glitzy actor-turned- director, it implies individuals who have decided to make a short documentary on an NGO or a social cause. It could be a boy/ girl panning the camera for the first time, or a mother of two deciding to do something for the society through the medium of film.
The venue was buzzing with film makers. and we happen to interact with a few, and asked why they want to do this? what do they expect from the event? how do they feel right now?
It was simple for them to answer, since it was mainly their passion which bought them here. Passion which was equally divided between the love for film making and the desire to serve the society. Some said. ” It is a brilliant opportunity”, while some were professional film makers who wanted to do this for themselves, as their work did not give that satisfaction.
A common feeling of solidarity was present among them. The representatives from the NGOs were equally excited, they were happy to see such a good turn out of film makers. There was a lot of interaction, one could spot a film maker gleefully chatting with a social worker, information in the form of knowledge was crossing from one enlightened mind to the other.
6 a.m, 3rd July, they will have the opportunity to create something so powerful that could make a change, and the motivation by itself makes ” I AM THE CHANGE” possible.
The Change Begins…!!!

Off late I have been seeing the ad hoardings saying, ” HISTORY IS MADE, WHEN PEOPLE COME TOGETHER”.
This statement could not have been truer during the launch of I am the CHANGE film project on July 1st, 2008, at Cinemax, Mumbai. Despite the rains filmmakers and NGOs alike poured into the venue to witness the launch of this unique event.
The occasion was graced with the presence of industry stalwarts like, Mr.Farooque Shaik and Mr. Kabir Bedi. The veteran actors blessed the project and encouraged the filmmakers to take part in such noble initiatives.
Following this, the veterans launched the film project with the clapboard, in a traditional Mam Movies style.
Even as the filmmakers prepared themselves for the 101 hours that awaits them, one could feel the enthusiasm brewing up within them. Filmmakers from last year, were already bursting with energy, while the new ones, quietly absorbed the atmosphere as they move a step closer to change.
As Dharmic Mathur, a participating filmmaker, quite rightly puts it, “In case my 5 minute film makes the slightest contribution to the purpose of the NGOs, i will feel that my effort has been worthwile.”
THE SEED HAS BEEN PLANTED. LET THE FLOWER BLOOM.
Beyond Acting
..and just when we thought we are shaping up into a really good film-making project, we get to see the project go a step further.
MAM’s favorite mentor, Mr. Anupam Kher, will be awarding the winner of the Best Film Award in the Children’s Category with a special award from “Actor Prepares” and would also be presenting the winner with a cash prize of Rs. 51,000/-
This is the second time when Mr. Kher is showing his generosity. Last year too Anupamji was extremely supportive towards the project and so is he this year too. I still remember Madhu & me meeting Anupamji for the first time in his office when he said – “good ideas will always get good support…”…surely, we can see it happening!!:)
Looking forward to see this project unveil in front of the rest now…
